Privacy notice
Artise runs this chat service and its assistant, Ari. This notice says what we keep, where, for how long, who can see it, and how to remove it. Questions or requests: privacy@artise.co.
What we keep
- Your account: your username, the name you show, and the email you signed up with (for the sign-up code and your backup recovery code).
- Your chats: messages are end-to-end encrypted between your devices and the server. Ari is a member of the chats it answers in, so it can read the messages there.
- Notes and files: what Ari saves for a chat (lists, tasks, reminders, workouts, receipts, documents you send) is kept in that chat's folder, which only its members can reach.
- What Ari remembers about you: facts you ask it to remember, your language, timezone and settings, and a short note on how each chat writes (never the messages themselves). Ask Ari "what do you know about me?" to see it, and to forget anything.
- How the service is used: for each answer, numbers — which model, how long, how many tokens, what it cost, which tools ran — but not your words. When you mark an answer as wrong (a negative reaction, a correction, or telling Ari it missed), that answer's question and reply are kept so we can fix it.
- Where you are in each chat: when you last read each chat (from your read receipts), and when each message was sent and by whom — never its words — for 7 days, so Ari can catch you up on what you missed. Hiding your read receipts in your app stops it.
- Connected accounts: if you connect your own Google or Microsoft account (and, if you choose, your Outlook or Gmail
email — read only when you ask, or each day for bills if you turn that on, and replies sent only after you
approve the exact text), its access keys are stored
encrypted and used only for your requests — and, if your calendar is connected, for "Your day", the summary
of your day that only you get, in your private chat with Ari, and the files for a meeting about to start.
!disconnectremoves them. - Automations: what each of a chat's automations is set to do, and a log of what they did, kept in the
chat's folder (
automations/log.md). The log links to messages but never copies them, and for anything sent privately it says only who was told. To offer to automate something you keep asking for, Ari remembers your own requests to it for 14 days (never other people's messages); you can turn that off.
Where it is
On our server in Germany (Hetzner, Falkenstein), on an encrypted disk. Nightly encrypted backups are kept in Finland (Hetzner, Helsinki).
Who else is involved
To answer you, Ari sends your message and the notes it needs to an AI provider: Google (Gemini) or Anthropic (Claude). We use their paid services, under which your data isn't used to train their models. Voice notes are transcribed and pictures are made by Google. Invitation and sign-up emails, and emails you ask Ari to send, go out through Resend. Packages you ask Ari to track are followed through 17TRACK, which gets only the tracking number and carrier — not who it's for, what's in it, or anything from your chats. Web searches go through our own search service, without your name. We don't sell your data or show you ads.
If someone in a chat sets an automation that watches for a meaning ("when someone says they're sick"),
each new message in that chat is checked by the AI provider, even when nobody mentions Ari. Every automation
is announced in the chat it watches, and anyone there can see and stop it with !automations.
In group chats, a message that mentions a day or a time ("the school meeting is on Friday at 6") — or a
photo sent there, up to 5 a day — is also checked by the AI provider, so Ari can offer to add the plan to
the chat's calendar. Nothing is kept unless someone answers ✅. A chat can turn this off: pause "when someone
mentions a plan with a day" in !automations, or !features off date_offers.
Who can see it
The members of each chat see what's in it. The people who run the server can reach the server's data to keep it working; they use the numbers above to watch quality and cost, and read an answer's words only when it was marked as wrong.
